Warm color, painted apples!!!

Our 1st -4th graders will be painting warm colored apples. They will learn about pointillism technique and utilize this to create a apple to put on the huge tree outside the art room. This is a collaboration of all of these grades and will be a wonderful sight when all of our apples are up. Students had to work on blending primary colors red and yellow to create an orange color to add to their apples. These three colors are warm colors (they make us think of the sun or something hot) and make an analogous color scheme.

We are working on all of these vocabulary words to talk about our artwork and creation process like an artist!

Admire Portrait

Students chose someone they admire and drew a portrait of them. They also had to learn about artist statements and write one to go with their portrait.

Uncle Monarch

Along with the Day of the Dead and All Souls Day we read the book Uncle Monarch. This is a story about the monarch butterflies migrating to Mexico. The souls of our passed loved ones come to visit in the forms of monarch butterflies. The students used oil pastels and watercolor paint to create their own butterflies.

POP Art Leaves

Third grade is learning about the POP Art period and the artist Andy Warhol. They will be working on complimentary color schemes in their artwork.
