Dear Kindergarten Families,
Today kindergarten paired up with our 3rd grade buddies. We discussed the events of September 11th, 2001. Kindergarteners worked with their buddies to make “Thank You” cards for our very own patriots, the Crystal Police Department.
Here is what we discussed:
·9/11 is a day to remember our patriots. A patriot is a person who supports their country and wants to defend it against bad people.
·We celebrate Patriot Day on September 11th for a special reason. On September 11, 2001, bad people wanted to hurt the United States of America
.
·On September 11th, 2001 two planes flew into the World Trade Center. At this time, the World Trade Center was two of the largest towers in the world.
·The towers were in New York City and many people were working in them when the planes hit.
·Many police officers and firefighters ran into the building to try and help the people inside. These courageous people are patriots.
· September 11, 2001 was a very sad day in America. This is a day to pray for those who were injured or went to heaven when the planes crashed. We also pray and give thanks as we remember the heroes who fought to protect us, and still work to protect us, everyday!
We contacted the City of Crystal’s Deputy Chief this morning to share our grateful hearts. The Deputy Chief was excited to hear from us. He sent three officers to visit us during recess. We explored three patrol cars, turned on lights, and honked the horn!
The visiting officers were touched by our special thank you cards! We had a special experience remembering those we lost on 9/11 through prayerful reflection. Also and celebrating patriots who risk their lives by showing our grateful hearts!
Sincerely,
Berta Tanner
