Dear Kindergarten Families,
It was an amazing week for our kindergarten angels!
Highlights included:
- Saint of the Week: St. Vincent, Feast Day: September 27th
*He is the patron saint of charity
*He demonstrated the virtue of courtesy to others
- Math: Understanding the number line, sequencing, and number order
- Literacy: Practicing holding our pencil correctly, sitting up straight when writing, the importance of writing within lines, and the letter "Cc"
-We discussed the four seasons and the impact of the sun on each seasonal change
- Continuing to build our kindergarten classroom relationships, rules, and expectations
UPDATE: Classroom Birthday Celebrations:
We celebrated four student birthdays in our classroom this month. I fully support the opportunity for students to bring ONE treat on their birthday.
However, this month I experienced the enormous impact even small cupcakes have on the little bodies of kindergarteners. Moving forward, I am asking all families to consider choosing a healthy snack choice as their birthday treat.
As an example, I celebrated my birthday with the class this week. I brought in "Good and Gather" organic strawberry fruit strips and organic string cheese as a healthy treat option for students. Our class LOVED this selection and were able to continue our school day with clear minds and calm bodies.
Please know all students are gifted with a birthday crown, sticker badge, pencil, and class birthday sing along. I record this activity and send to you via email.
Please let me know if you have any questions or wish for further healthy choice suggestions moving forward. Thank you for your understanding and consideration!
